Welcome to our haven.

Raising dynamic citizens since 2019.

“There is no such thing as neutral education.

Education either functions as an instrument to bring about conformity or freedom.”

— Paulo Freire

Wildhaven is a registered charitable organization, serving over 100 children since 2019.

We are…

  • a vibrant hub of “learners without borders.”

  • ambassadors for inclusion.

  • playful revolutionaries who keep joy at the centre of learning!

Homeschool-registered children age 6-12 will discover an intentional community of support where they can grow in agency, self-expression, and the art of citizenship.

Our Unique Approach

At Wildhaven, we believe children are naturally curious, capable, and eager to contribute when they are trusted. Everything we do grows from that simple belief.

We trust children.
We honour each child's voice, interests, and capacity to take ownership of their learning. Trust fosters confidence, resilience, and genuine motivation.

We practice living democracy.
Children experience real choice alongside real responsibility. Through shared decision-making, respectful dialogue, and compassionate accountability, they learn what it means to belong to a thriving community.

We create a steady rhythm of belonging.
Our days are grounded by songs, stories, circles, and reflective practices that cultivate presence, emotional regulation, and meaningful connection with one another.

We learn by doing.
Our curriculum is hands-on, collaborative, and project-based. Through games, experiments, maker spaces, field studies, special guests, and immersive experiences, learning becomes something children live—not simply something they are taught.

We nurture the whole child.
Each day we weave together outdoor exploration, Spanish, drawing, spelling, gratitude writing, creative making, service, and citizenship. Academic growth is balanced with creativity, practical skills, emotional wellbeing, and a deep sense of purpose.

At Wildhaven, education is not preparation for life—it is life itself.

The teacher’s task is to keep alive the sacred spark of wonder and to fan the flame that already glows. His problem is to protect the spirit of inquiry, to keep it from being blase from overexcitement, wooden from routine, fossilized through dogmatic instruction or dissipated by random exercise upon trivial things.”

—John Dewey

“All children are created whole, endowed with innate intelligence, with dignity and wonder, worthy of respect.”

-Raffi

Acknowledgment

At Wildhaven, we recognize that our work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Hul’q’umi’num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples. We acknowledge the deep and enduring relationship these Nations have with this land, known as Tle’lhum and ĆUÁN, an island whose spirit has guided and nurtured its people for generations.

As we walk this land, we do so as guests, with gratitude and a commitment to learning and listening. We honour the wisdom and stories shared by the coast Salish peoples, recognizing that these teachings are not ours to claim but to respect and protect.

May we tread lightly, listen deeply, and contribute positively to the story of this land.

“We have only been at Wildhaven for three weeks at the end of the spring term and to watch my son jump up and down with excitement when it is a ‘Wildhaven day’ brings me so much joy and amazement.

Wildhaven has provided community, a sense of safety, being seen and heard and loved for my six-year-old that has allowed him to step into his own being without any of the huge separation anxiety and rejection sensitivities he has felt his entire life.

I am beyond grateful that we have this child orientated community where carers are free to stay and join in, children can express themselves in all their uniqueness and where love is so plainly and obviously central to the specialness of this place.  Gigi, Isa and Theo weave such a web of magic, I wish I was six again.”

“Wildhaven has been completely transformational for our kiddo. She has been going for about a year now. She went from waking up terrified of school days--even on weekends--to instead asking, as soon as her eyes open, "is today a Wildhaven day!?" with excitement.”

“Wildhaven is quite literally a much needed haven for my son who has autism. He struggles in large groups, with sensory issues, transitions and with social settings. In many environments he's like a square peg in a round hole. That's why we felt so blessed to find Wildhaven.”

"Our son is high functioning autistic and Gigi's program is one where he not only feels welcome, but thrives and is a part of a loving, playful, educational community. Inclusivity is what Gigi is all about."

WildHaven was a real haven for our son! We were so lucky he was able to fit right in after several other schools have failed to support him. To say that he had challenges at other schools would be an understatement. At WildHaven, he finally felt a sense of belonging that we all strive for and deserve, it was pretty incredible to observe! From an angry misunderstood kid he blossomed into a confident young person. We are forever grateful!”

"My son had such a great day and I just can’t believe how everyone is in his corner truly getting to know him. Gigi, this work of yours and the guides.. this is life changing, course altering work rooted in love and community. I know I say it a lot, but I am beyond grateful for your vision, commitment to each child AS AN INDIVIDUAL, their specific needs and how to accommodate. Honestly, this experience with Wildhaven will be the thing that saves him."

“I am deeply grateful for Wildhaven and the incredible educators who create such a thoughtful and supportive environment. The program offered a container spacious enough for my son to feel safe and comfortable, able to stay all day without feeling the need to retreat. Over time, he found his way to the center of that container, feeling held, trusted, and confident in sharing his gifts and natural leadership. Wildhaven has been a truly transformative and nurturing experience for him.”
